01. About CUBOT Easy Business Intelligence

CUBOT is designed to facilitate the use of organizational data. It is easy to set up scheduling actions and configure metrics that will ultimately be used to track and improve business growth.

Designer

Imports ETL processed tables to create data models. In CUBOT Designer, an analyst can join transaction tables with relevant master tables to connect information across silos.
A well designed data model is essential to downstream calculations and analytics.

Configurator

Allows variables to be defined by an analyst. CUBOT Configurator performs data aggregations, calculates measures, bins dimension values and more. Tell CUBOT here if you have geographic or time series data, so that you can do more with it later on.

Analyzer

The brains to CUBOT BI.
View figures across data attributes and drill-down to the finest level of granularity.
Get Cumulative sums, percentage comparisons, ratios, cross-tabulated data and more.
Discover patterns within your data here in a few clicks.
Save and export the analysis, if you wish. Otherwise, schedule an analysis or a report to visualize in CUBOT.

Dashboards

Designed for executives and managers.
CUBOT dashboards are mobile enabled for executives on the go. Share information across the enterprise through multiple visualization options. Industry standard D3.js charts result in beautiful, presentable graphics.
Reports in tabular formats can also be created and distributed for operational or statutory requirements.

02. CUBOT Features Analytical Features — And More

CUBOT provides most commonly sought after functions by IT administrators as well as Business Users, which makes the provision of data, as well as its analysis faster and simpler.

Search For virtually
any aspect of data

A CUBOT user can search through vast amounts of data for measures, dimensions or source fields, that he/she wants. It makes it easier to understand how values are calculated and to make sense of analyses. Search for saved reports, dashboard layouts and visualizations where you left off.

Unlimited Drill-Down
and Filters

There is no limit to data exploration. As long as there exist information hierarchies, CUBOT can slice and dice information to provide you details within categories. This is particularly nice for users that seek to make the most of their data through exploratory analysis.

CUBOT is hosted
on the Cloud

CUBOT is a server-based platform where data aggregation, calculations and other queries are performed on more powerful processors. This means that analyzing large volumes of data on the fly will actually work, and that all analysts can work off the same, up-to-date information.

Use it on your
phone

CUBOT dashboard is available for the mobile. Dashboards can be shared to executives or salespersons that are frequently on the move.

Share your Analyses
with your Boss and Team Members

CUBOT has common accessibility functions for sharing analyses with other enterprise users. These functions promote collaborations between teams and team members, and can drive organizational decisions to become more data-driven.

Your Information is secure
at various levels

CUBOT Security Matrix allows different levels of data security. These can be users within different departments or organizational hierarchies. Security is defined in multiple ways in CUBOT, therefore adding more layers to information security.

03. CUBOT For Everyone Intelligence for everyone

CUBOT's features, interface and pricing plans make it usable as a platform for different user profiles. These include:

CUBOT BI is executive-friendly and can provide meaningful summaries for busy executives.
Executives can use filters across chart types to visualize trends, understand underlying causes through annotations and can be sent alerts to act upon based on pre-defined KPI thresholds.

Analysts or curious business users save the most time from CUBOT's functions. This leaves more time for analysis within CUBOT rather than data processing functions that can be more time-intensive.
Analysts can understand data through simple measures and dimensions or can increase the complexity of analysis by configuring more complex measures and discovering patterns through drill-down analysis. Pattern finding is a key function where CUBOT aids the analyst.

Company partners, distributors and larger network of individuals require data as well. This improves their understanding of the industry and business and helps in smarter decision making.
CUBOT's security matrix is ideal for the same data to be shared across a large set of business users. Some users can be made to only have dashboard access where data is required to be published periodically while others can have the full feature-set of CUBOT BI.

Like partners, Customers can be kept informed with CUBOT BI.
Usage trends, bill size trends, order details are some of the areas where Customers may be keen on their own data trends.

04. How it works From Source Data — To Analytics

CUBOT is an end-to-end platform that connects to source data and also gives insights and visualizations to its users.

06.Security Role Based Security

Set up Eastern Zonal Sales Manager to access only East Zone Sales Data in 3 easy steps.

Set up Roles for Numbers

You can set up a number to be accessible by a role. For example, cost numbers to be accessed only by the Finance department.
You can also set up a dimension category to be accessible only by a role - e.g. restrict drill down by Location.

Restrict Access to Numbers

Users can be assigned to groups such as departments or functions, that can be have custom security controls.
It is possible to assign security both at group level and refine the security at individual level, as required.

Restrict Access by Data Values

A key security feature is that access control can also be applied at the data value level. You can restrict users to values of dimensions such as business departments, geography, product, or service.
This means users can only see values that fall into authorized dimensions.

07. Technology Architecture

CUBOT makes use of standard technical infrastructure, and doesn't need much else to get working. The platform has a services layer in its architecture that is called by multiple user facing functions on an ad-hoc basis. This powers CUBOT's features to users.

08. FAQ Have some questions?

We'd be happy to help you know more about CUBOT, Data Management and Analytics.

How does CUBOT compare to larger technology vendors like SAS or Tableau?

The CUBOT difference is that it is a single stop ETL/Data Model/BI Software. Nothing else is required for a medium size implementation.
While most of the BI software target the business user for good visualizations, CUBOT provides in addition the IT and Implementer the components that make the data integration and processing easier which they can do themselves.
We believe Tableau is great at visualizations, but cannot be deployed in scale for an organization due to mainly cost issues. Furthermore, it requires a separate ETL and data processing method to be established, which requires further shopping and integration with the platform. SAS is the leader in platform analytics according to us but requires the right data scientists to make use of it effectively, and getting frequent platform support can be difficult.
CUBOT is a tier-2 business intelligence platform, positioned for larger number of users to draw information and intelligence. The full range of features in CUBOT can be used by business analysts to bridge the gap between source data and insights.

What type of Customers buy CUBOT?

CUBOT has customers from medium size companies to large companies. The implementation has ranged from 10's of Gigabytes to 10's of Terabytes. The user base ranges between 10 to 1000, with typical being about 30. The complexity in terms of attributes ranges from 50 to 500.

Why Do I need Business Intelligence? I get insights from Excel.

Excel is a good tool which is irreplacable for some purposes, especially at the individual level. However enterprise intelligence can make use of technology that seeks to bring data silos together, initiate processes to clean data, and allows for analysis. It helps business users understand information better through visualizations and other analytical outputs. It also overcomes the many versions of truth issue, as the data is centralised and all get the same numbers from the BI System. Therefore implementing a business intelligence platform using a centralized data warehouse is an imperative, to meet executive and user information needs.

Is CUBOT mobile enabled?

A responsive (mobile friendly) version of CUBOT Dashboards, Graphs and Reports is available. CUBOT mobile will still retain permission rights based on the enterprise's CUBOT security configuration.

Can I get real-time Analytics from CUBOT?

CUBOT ETL can be scheduled to run at say 5 minute intervals to get information from a stock feed or similar sources.
A truly real time system is more expensive to construct as it requires direct hooks to the source system, and usually not required for intelligence.
Such direct hooks are made available in our custom Marketing Analytics tool which triggers automated cross sell actions based on consumer transactions. Read More

Can I do What-If Analysis or Forecasting in CUBOT?

At this point these are not available in CUBOT.
However see our advanced analytics section where we offer Vizualytics custom analytics applications covering a breadth of offerings including what-if.
These are lighter, single or multi page applications that deliver analytics for a specific purpose.

What are the performance enablers in CUBOT?

CUBOT has large portions of data processing written in C with native connectors to databases, and makes heavy use of SQL-based operations. That is why it works well with data that sits in most databases. Furthermore, SQL scripts can be inserted into CUBOT for data processing functions.
CUBOT has its own OLAP with caching feature for common queries and reports. The reports are pre-generated with every ETL refreshing critical reports. The users therefore get highly responsive dashboards.

I have several terabytes of data. Can CUBOT handle this?

CUBOT has been successfully implemented for large Indian Telecom Industry Clients, who by the nature of their business, have terabytes of data at hand.
We also have additional big data solutions to enhance CUBOT's speed and performance.

Is CUBOT available on cloud?

Yes our customers have implemented CUBOT on servers on Amazon AWS cloud platform. The implementations are usually on private cloud due to sensitivity of data. Some countries may have regulatory issues in hosting on cloud servers outside of the country.
Subscription pricing and cloud implementation are not related. We can offer perpetual licensing model on cloud implementation as well.

What are the advantages of cloud implementation?

The platform is scalable and hence you can add on things like memory or disk or cpu more easily compared to having your own server. But you can address these with virtual machine platform in premise as well.

How much time does it take to implement a CUBOT BI system?

We advise our clients to approach implementation on a departmental level rather than enterprise level with targeted user base. This leads to better and quicker implementations. Our pilots are usually done in about 2 weeks, a phase 1 normally in about 8 weeks.
A lot of time is actually nothing to do with technology, more time is usually spent in understanding and agreeing on definitions and mapping to source data.
We make part of these quicker by having packaged solutions with both departmental as well as industry specific data models and calculated numbers, reports, and dashboards. See our Solutions section for more details.
